The Reedbeds Community Centre
Finch Rd., Fulham, SA
Meeting dates:
Second Tuesdays of the even months at 1945 hours (AGM in
Feb.)
Happenings
The joint venture between
Airstream and SAPUG has ceased due to the equipment being
stolen from the Reedbeds tower, along with 5 other Airstream
sites across the Adelaide metropolitan area. Police
have collated all the thefts and are hoping to apprehended
the offenders as this sort of crime is occurring to
professional sites as well. Forensic evidence has been
collected from a number of the sites and will assist with
positive identification of the offenders when caught.
This has also caused a huge hole in the SAPUG budget.
The thieves were quiet brazen when stealing the equipment as
they were in view of a large number of homes in the general
area and may have been caught on surveillance cameras.
The AGM is scheduled for 13 February
2007 at the Reedbeds Community Centre, all members are
encouraged to attended and visitors are most welcomed.
The packet network usage has
deteriorated over the last few years to the point where
membership no longer covers the basic expenditure, we
welcome new members and any donations that may assist SAPUG
to stay active. A new digi-peater is proposed to be
installed on top of the Adelaide Hills Range at a site to be
determined, to cater for users of other BBS's that
have already closed down and still wishing to use packet.
The digi-peater hopefully will be on 144.850 (1200
baud) to allow direct access to VK5SPG.
This will be one matter being discussed at the AGM in
February 2007.
If you are having problems with your
packet system and don't know how to fix it then come along
to one of the general meetings and we will assist you to get
you back onto the packet network.
